Yesterday was the best day ever, including writing the whole lesson plan, which was very challenging.
The advanced forms with Flubber the green guy was fantastic! What a tool! and temperamental too, like a beautiful woman!
Loved the presentations. Better that powerpoint. Liked very much the drawings, although not that much as the presentations.
The little technique of the safeguarding the you tube videos was very useful, the

Flubaroo - simple to grade and see statistically what questions need review...not wasting paper...time saver not going through teaching loop opportunities.
Embedded video - Fun, motivational, catchy, makes presentation more dynamic, doesn't take a lot of time...easily improves professionalism of presentation, the ability to crop video to eliminate buffering time eliminates holding attention problems in the classroom, we like safe share it reduces distraction and helps kids to focus better
Drawings - Grafic organziers - kids can do their own... better than inspiration,  fun to bring in google images...lots of choices, looking forward to continue to play with this tool.

Integrating Video

-Youtube is the second go to search engine behind Google.
-Many people are visual learners including students, so why not use the videos in our curriculum.
-Embedding videos is an easy to do and powerful tool for illustrating curriculum.
-As a Geo-science teacher the use of video is critical when describing volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis etc., since we live in an area where those events don't occur.

I really enjoyed learning how to use the flubaroo script yesterday.  I think it will be a great resource.  Not only can I email students to quiz results with the correct answers, but I can quickly know what concepts students have mastered and which ones we need to spend more time on.

Calendar very useful tool to use with students
Spreadsheets  confused us a bit as to how to use with students , but forms will be used for formative and summative assessments, communication within discussion groups, collaborative assignments
We are all very excited about the tools we are learning...all of them...we are a bit overwhelmed but realize that we are being introduced to a lot and have the ability to pick and choose what tools we want to incorporate into the classroom/office

Google Calendar Online

I did like the google calendar feature that we learned yesterday.  Ideally, I can design my class schedule in the calendar.  Then I can post it to the web and also print it to hand out to students.  I can put the calendar on my site with other important documents for kids.

Calendars, Published docs

Yet another resource for my students to know whats going on in class.  Ideally students could have calendars for every class and be aware of upcoming assignments, exams, and quizzes.  Also  creating a link from the calendar to the homework (published doc or Google doc) eliminates excuses!!!!!!

I'm really impressed with the eportfolio sites everyone is creating! Things are really starting to come together. With the extended PLAY time coming up on Day 4 I think you are going to be wrapping up large portions of your sites and moving on into putting lessons up on the Google lesson site.

Spreadsheet use

Spreadsheet will work well for for keeping track of volunteer parents in the library. We have a core group who usually come at a regular day and time, but there is some switching from week to week. W/ the Google spreadsheet, I could see at a glance who will be coming each day & week. Also, if I create a Group of the volunteers, they can access the spreadsheet from home, and make switches with each other, eliminating the need to call me to try to arrange that.
